On July 28, 2025, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard unveiled explosive revelations from a newly declassified House Intelligence Committee report. According to the findings, Russian intelligence was aware of serious health and psychological issues affecting Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential campaign—but deliberately chose not to disclose the information.
The report alleges that Russia’s foreign intelligence service, the SVR, had obtained confidential communications within the Democratic Party. These communications reportedly described Clinton as suffering from “intensified psycho-emotional issues,” including emotional instability, mood swings, and angry outbursts, which were said to be managed with strong sedatives.
Based on interviews with U.S. intelligence personnel and FBI agents, the report further claims Clinton was receiving treatment for multiple health conditions, including Type 2 diabetes, ischemic heart disease, deep vein thrombosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). High-level Democrats, including then-President Barack Obama, were allegedly aware of her declining health and concerned it might affect her performance against Donald Trump.
Despite holding potentially damaging material, Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly refrained from leaking it. The report suggests Moscow expected Clinton to win and opted for caution to avoid retaliation from a future Clinton administration.
Additionally, the report includes a purported email uncovered by Russian operatives, in which members of Clinton’s campaign discussed tying Trump to Russian hackers. The goal, it appears, was to divert public scrutiny away from the controversy surrounding Clinton’s private email server.
Gabbard, speaking at a press briefing, said the revelations highlight a calculated strategy by Clinton’s team to manage both public perception and internal party concerns about her health. She also accused the Obama administration of helping craft the narrative connecting Trump to Russia in order to delegitimize his presidency after the election.
Republican Senator Roger Marshall echoed these sentiments, stating the report offers new evidence that Clinton was medicated during her time in office and that voters were misled about her condition.
Speculation about Clinton’s health was widespread during the 2016 race, particularly after she fainted at a 9/11 memorial event. Her team later claimed she had been diagnosed with pneumonia.
The release of this report is likely to reignite heated debates over election interference, candidate transparency, and the role of foreign intelligence in American political discourse.
