A husband left his pregnant wife with her mother-in-law to dig potatoes while he went on vacation: but what happened one day in the garden sh0cked the neighbors
The man had long dreamed of the seaside. When his wife discovered she was pregnant and doctors forbade her from flying, she naively assumed he would stay by her side.
But one day, he said coldly:
“The tickets are already bought, why waste the money? I’ll go alone, and in the meantime, you go to your mom’s in the village and help around the house.”
The woman didn’t know what to say. She was six months pregnant, and her back hurt from the slightest bend, but she didn’t dare argue.
Her husband went on vacation, and she was sent to her mother-in-law’s—to the village, where the toilet was behind a barn, the water was only cold, and the only place to rest was in the garden beds.
Every morning, her mother-in-law cooked soup, placed a bowl in front of her, and said,
“Only when you finish your work will you eat.”
The pregnant woman went out to the garden and spent a long time digging in the soil. At night, she dreamed of the sea—not because she had ever been there, but because her husband had gone there. He sent her photos from the beach.
He captioned them briefly: “Resting, just like you said.”
Now the wife was digging potatoes. She called him, but he didn’t answer.
But what happened in the garden that day sh0cked the neighbors.

One day, in the garden, she felt dizzy. She sank to her knees in the mud, breathing heavily. Her mother-in-law came out into the yard, looked down at her, and said dryly,
“You’re pregnant, not sick.” There’s no time to sit; the potatoes won’t dig themselves.
The woman tried to get up, but her strength failed her. And then it all happened.
A neighbor passing by saw the pregnant woman fall face-first into the ground. She screamed and called for help. The neighbors came running, picked her up, and carried her to the car. At the hospital, the doctors gave the terrifying news: a little more, and the child would have been too late to save.
From then on, the villagers avoided the mother-in-law’s house. The neighbors couldn’t forgive her for bringing the pregnant woman to this predicament. And the husband, returning from the sea, found his wife in the hospital room, her eyes no longer filled with love.
